Submission Area We solicit regular papers, tutorial proposals, panel proposals, industry and practical experience reports, fast abstracts and student papers. Please click the following links to read the submission details.
The first Workshop on Software Assessment (WOSA) will be held in Hong Kong on November 27 2001, in conjunction with ISSRE2001. The pupose of WOSA is to provide a forum for the detailed exchange of ideas among researchers - both from academe and industry - about quantitative models, data analysis, and tools. Regular papers, written in English, should not exceed 20 double-spaced pages, and should be submitted electronically. Note that we only accept submissions in either postscript or PDF format, possibly compressed with gzip. The final version will be limited to a to-be-announced number of pages IEEE double column format. Submissions must be unpublished and must not be submitted for publication elsewhere. All papers will be thoroughly reviewed by referees appointed by the Program Committee in order to identify their originality as well as their scientific and practical contribution to the state of the art. A selection of papers will undergo a second review for potential publication in a special section of IEEE Transactions on Reliability. Submission for Regular paper has been closed.
The industrial tracks constitute of three types of sessions. For all sessions, the submission deadline is July 1, 2001. Individual Presentations: We seek submissions of one page abstract by authors in the software industry on topics in technology, tools and practice related to software testing, reliability, safety, security, availability, and dependability. Typically this will contain: The abstracts will be reviewed by the Industry Practice review committee and the selected authors will have a chance to present a talk (20 to 30 minutes) at the ISSRE 2001 conference . There is no need to write a paper and the authors only need to submit a presentation (PDF format) for publication in the conference proceedings. Company Presentations: We seek submissions of proposals for presentations by companies in the software industry on their approaches to enhancing software reliability in their products and services. In contrast to a submitted presentation by an author, the contents of the proposal for a company presentation should have enough different technical dimensions (such as tools experiences, company practices, reliability goals, etc.) to warrant a dedicated time in the agenda for the company. It should not be viewed as a forum for advertisement. The selected proposals will have 60 to 90 minutes on the ISSRE 2001 agenda. The participants only need to submit the presentation (PDF format) for publication in the conference proceedings.
Industry Relevant Panels:
We seek submissions of proposals for panels that will be interesting to the industry and academic participants alike on topics relevant to today's fast moving software industry. Some examples of the topics are: Reliability implications of Extreme Progamming, Internet security, Testing and Reliability of Network based Software Services, etc. The proposal must contain:
Name and address of the author of the proposal Title of the panel and an explanation of the relevant area
Names of participants (with one moderator) and their qualifications
Key five questions that will be addressed by the panel
We are pleased to request applications for student travel grant program. The program was created in 1999 to encourage graduate studentsˇ¦ participation to ISSRE. A travel grant ranging from $350 for students located in Hong Kong and the nearby region to $900 for international students will be awarded this year to meritorious students. The travel grant will cover travel expenses as well as student registration expenses up to the specified limits. Students interested in participating should submit a 1,000 word abstract (upper limit). We accept submissions in either postscript or PDF format. Selection will be based on the following criteria: The recepients of student travel grants will be asked to present a poster and, possibly, describe their research in a special session dedicated to student papers. In addition, students who are authors on submitted regular papers are encouraged to apply for this student travel grant. A selection of accepted refereed papers will undergo a second review for potential publication in a special section of IEEE Transactions on Reliability.
A fast abstract session will be organized for short contributions from academia as well as industry. Please send your fast abstract (one or two pages, in postscript or PDF format) to the Fast Abstract Chair Ram Chillarege. Accepted abstracts will be distributed to all attendees. Fast abstract presentations will be 5 to 10 minutes.
A major feature of ISSRE 2001 will be half- and full-day participative tutorials. These tutorials will provide the participants to explore leading-edge issues in-depth. We solicit tutorial proposals on practical leading-edge software reliability engineering technology for the Internet and E-commerce systems. Each tutorial proposal should include:
Preference will be given to tutorials within the theme of Software Reliability Engineering for Internet and E-Commerce. Practical aspects are equally important as theoretical aspects. Please send your tutorial proposals before 1 June 2001.
